The Marijuana Investor Summit March 2016 in San Francisco highlighted how far this industry has come in just a few short years of legalization. The convention was impeccably organized, reasonably priced, and filled with over a thousand serious investors representing family funds, VC and angel investors and deep pocket qualified investors. While there were a good number of interesting start-ups pitching for funding, and excellent informational seminars, one group of individuals was noticeably missing. That group is the start-up and interim CEO’s, the experienced jockeys of new businesses who have demonstrated previous successful build-ups and timely exits for the investors.
Those experienced management teams are a key component in this exploding field and they ought to take a close look at the possibilities in the cannabis market.
For myself, I really loved the opportunity to share my experience with starting new companies and taking them through exit events. Plus I was able to speak to several hundred experienced investor’s and tell them what will happen when FDA begins approving various cannabis drugs and delivery systems. Those product approvals will leapfrog the current state-by-state legalization process, and allow for cross-state sales through the US, plus international export and import. That will prove tremendously disruptive to all cannabis product distribution.
You can see a picture of me speaking here… and there will be a video of the talk soon.
